About Inland Empire Fleet Maintenance in Colton, CA

Built by People Who Know What It Costs When a Truck Sits Still

Steve and Jennifer Wilson didn't start Inland Empire Fleet Maintenance because it was the easy path. They started it because they knew the trucking industry inside and out — and they knew they could do it better.

Both had spent years working as managers for a trucking company. They understood fleet operations, shop management, hiring, and what it actually takes to keep commercial vehicles running. When a new company acquired their employer and began letting managers go — including Steve, despite his experience and performance — Jennifer made a decision of her own.

"I walked into his office, and I looked at him and said let's walk out together."

When they left that day, they left for good. And they started building something of their own.

    Starting From Nothing

In 2019, Steve found a dealership selling territory and they bought it — without an established customer base. They would have to build their client list from scratch. Their first mechanic sat without much to do for the first six months. They had started making progress by 2020 when COVID hit.

"Nobody knew what was going to happen. Is it the end of the world or what?"

What happened next surprised everyone. The automotive industry was designated an essential service. Online shopping surged. Deliveries increased. Trucks were needed everywhere. Business started booming.

    A Different Kind of Shop

From the beginning, Steve and Jennifer wanted to run their business differently. They set out to genuinely help their customers and treat their employees right.

Steve wanted to provide the best possible service with transparency and clear communication — and give customers direct access to the owners.

"A lot of customers are unhappy with their current fleet services. Our quality and attention to customers set us apart. The fact that they can talk to us about any problems — you can't do that with a lot of the competition."

Jennifer, as owner and shop manager, focused on building a team where people felt valued.

"When we started this business, I wanted to create an environment where people didn't feel like they were just a number. If I take care of my employees, they will take care of my customers."

They also understood something that most shops overlook: when a truck is down, their customer's business is losing money.

"We pay close attention to this. We understand the pressure from that side because we've been there. The most expensive thing in this business is time."

How That Shows Up Every Day

That philosophy shapes how Inland Empire Fleet Maintenance operates:

    • Mechanics begin diagnosing a truck the same day it arrives
    • Work orders are actively managed to avoid unnecessary delays
    • Mobile service is available so trucks don't always have to come to the shop
    • Owners are accessible to customers — not just the front desk

They also made a point to welcome the customers that other shops overlook.

"Unlike other providers, we welcome small to mid-size fleets and deliver the same high-quality services to all our customers."
